Help Us Help Teens & Adults Who Missed the Basics of Learning to Read!

The big day may have come and gone, but keep in touch as we’re excited to keep expanding, helping more kids learn to read!
WHY?
On our last visit to Roatan, we spent the day with our favorite local boat Captain, Patrick Bodden, and his younger cousin. A couple of weeks later, while exploring how we can positively impact the community through our friend, we found that his heart is heavy to help youth who missed out on learning to read (like the 16 year old cousin who had earned a tip by helping that day). Roatan Reading Room is the beginning of the means to that end.
How It Works
Through the Wonders of Technology and an Incredibly Generous Donation of access to an amazing program specifically designed as a multisensory reading curriculum for struggling, dyslexic or emerging readers: LearnReading.com. We are so excited to help teach reading in a FUN and age appropriate way to older youth and adults on the island.
What We Need
Used, but updateable, iPads or other Tablets, in good working condition (data not required), or money to purchase Samsung Tab A Tablets (currently $80 at Costco). We've purchased Kindle Unlimited for reading material and have established an Amazon Registry for physical books and help with expenses. THANK YOU!

This BEAUTIFUL Island...
Roatán is an island in the Caribbean, about 40 miles off the northern coast of Honduras. It is the largest of the Bay Islands of Honduras.
It is approximately 48 miles long, and less than 5 miles across at its widest point.
The REAL Roatan
We love this guy's videos about real life on Roatan. We chose this one (of many) because it gives a quick glimpse into a lot of homes, living conditions and local people's lives.
